What Rayte compares, how it works and where its limits begin.
Rayte is an independent directory and decision-support tool. It connects people to genuine suppliers and official public sources, but it does not pretend that a wholesale price is a household quote.
A useful energy comparison must make a clear distinction between facts, calculations, estimates and commercial claims. This page describes that distinction so visitors can judge the results for themselves.
Official links, not invented tariffs
Rayte lists genuine household suppliers and sends visitors to the supplier’s own current offer page.
Wholesale context only
ENTSO-E day-ahead data describes a bidding-zone market interval, not the final price on a household bill.
Used to explain relevance
Annual consumption and export figures provide context. They do not generate a binding personalised quote.
Supplier and national source
Eligibility, address-specific costs and contract terms must be confirmed on the official destination.
1. What appears in a country result
Each country result contains a curated set of established household electricity suppliers or official supply routes. Inclusion is based on an identifiable official company page, regulator listing, market-operator material or public comparison source. The cards describe availability conservatively and link directly to the organisation responsible for the offer.
Rayte does not currently receive a complete licensed retail-tariff feed for all 27 EU countries. For that reason, the public comparison does not attach guessed unit rates to real suppliers or claim to rank every offer from cheapest to most expensive. Where a country has a regulator or public comparison service, Rayte directs the visitor there for the final address-specific ranking.
2. What the annual-use and solar inputs do
The annual-use control helps a visitor recognise the scale of the household being considered and carries that context into the result. The solar control records an estimate of exported electricity and reveals supplier solar information. These inputs are stored only in the visitor’s browser, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The present public directory does not multiply the input by a universal retail rate. That would be misleading because household tariffs can depend on postcode, network area, meter type, time profile, contracted power, taxes, eligibility, contract date and bundled services. The guides show how to perform a defensible annual comparison using the same assumptions for every offer.
3. How live market data is used
The live panel calls a server-side function that requests official ENTSO-E Transparency Platform day-ahead data for the selected market or a representative bidding zone. Where a compatible series is available, the page shows the interval covering the current time, the available low and high, a duration-weighted average when the full published period is covered, and a chart showing how long each price applies. ENTSO-E variable-sized price blocks remain valid until the next published change or the period end; they are not treated as missing intervals. Genuine gaps remain visible, and an incomplete period has no full-period average. The source, zone and published period boundaries in local market time are shown beside the chart. The source’s market period may differ from a local calendar day. When no published interval covers the current time, the current price is unavailable rather than replaced with an earlier price.
A country may contain more than one bidding zone. Publication timing, daylight-saving changes and missing intervals can affect the display. The function searches the returned periods for an interval that actually covers the current time; if none exists, the panel labels the most recent interval as “latest available” rather than presenting it as live. Cyprus and Malta are currently routed to their official national sources because ENTSO-E does not publish a compatible day-ahead series for this use.
4. How guides and worked examples are produced
Rayte guides are written to answer a real household decision: understand a bill, choose contracted power, compare price structures, change supplier or value solar exports. Official regulators, legislation and public energy agencies are used for rules and consumer processes. Supplier pages can be used to describe a specific product, but commercial wording is not treated as an independent conclusion.
Worked examples are labelled as fictional or illustrative unless the page identifies a verified household dataset. They use round numbers to expose the formula, not to imitate a live quote. A calculation should state the period, units, included costs and omissions. Case-study material separates measured facts from interpretation and never fills missing household data with invented values.
Nicholas John Hopes sets the editorial questions, supplies first-hand case-study material and accepts responsibility for publication. AI tools may assist with research organisation, drafting, link checks and technical testing. They are not treated as factual sources: material rules are tied to official references, commercial claims are attributed, and uncertain or unverified details are labelled or excluded.
5. Evidence hierarchy and reproducibility
Rayte labels evidence according to what it can establish. A value copied from an anonymised bill or monitoring screen is a transcribed displayed value. A percentage or total produced from those figures is a derived calculation. A recollection is described as owner experience and is not upgraded to a verified fact without a supporting record. Rules and market processes are tied to an official publication. Supplier product claims remain attributed to the supplier.

The machine-readable La Quinta data summary lets readers reproduce the published annual and bill checks without exposing private identifiers. Monthly figures are not invented from chart bars; Rayte publishes only the exact values available in the source material.
6. Review dates and changing information
Supplier links, tariff structures, regulation and taxes can change. Guide pages carry a review date. Directory cards identify the verification date for the supplier set. A review date means the page was checked on that date; it is not a promise that every external page will remain unchanged afterward.
Before accepting a contract, save the tariff sheet, contract summary and full conditions from the supplier. Confirm the legal supplier name, energy and power prices, taxes, duration, renewal method, cancellation terms, payment conditions and any compulsory service. Solar households should also retain the export-compensation terms and registration evidence.
7. Independence, sponsorship and advertising
Rayte may display advertising, sponsorship or commercial links. Sponsored placements are labelled. Payment does not buy a better directory position, a favourable editorial conclusion or a claim that a supplier is cheapest. The Solpanel Experten placement on the home page is marked as a page sponsor and is separate from the supplier directory.
Rayte does not currently charge visitors and does not require an email address to use the comparison. If an affiliate or paid-referral arrangement is introduced, the destination and relationship should be disclosed where the link appears.
8. Corrections and contact
Energy information is difficult to maintain across 27 markets, and corrections are part of responsible publishing. If a supplier link is broken, a description is outdated or a guide misstates a rule, send the page URL, the disputed wording and an official source to nicknjh23@gmail.com. Material corrections should be reviewed promptly and the page date updated.
